Woodhaven Lakes is a private, gated recreational property owner resort located in the heart of North Central Illinois, just two hours west of Chicago.
Two pools and a beach provide a great way for families to relax and cool off during the hot summer months. Our year-round recreation staff provides structured recreation programs and services throughout the year.
Wildlife is abundant at Woodhaven and it’s very common to see deer frolicking through the prairies during all seasons.

It can be 7 feet thick, you’d still never v catch me on it. I have a totally irrational fear of finding that spot where a warm spring feeds in and going through the ice 🥶
But no good size fish to be caught in these lakes,we need a better stocking,release,program....see guys keeping everything they catch
What is average thickness
The United States Department of Agriculture Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service will begin Woodhaven’s deer harvesting program on Monday, January 26, after dark. The deer population control permit was approved and issued by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to reduce Woodhaven’s deer population by 100 deer. We anticipate the program will take up to four nights to complete.
**During the week of January 26, all Woodhaven trails will be closed for use**
All deer taken through this program will be tested for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), and those that test negative will be processed by Freedom Sausage in Earlville and donated to the local food pantry.
This the BS....100 PERCENT!!!! all the BOD is spending our money.....300 bucks or more each deer.....add that up and see what a waste of funds. There are other options where woodhaven could have made money but NOPE spend spend spend. Its illegal to shoot deer over bait piles, at night and using night vison....but hey its the DNR....A$$ WIPES....
It would be nice if some of the woodhaven residents could receive some of that meat, or have the option to pay to have one processed for their family.
Potentially 150+ deer. If a Doe is pregnant. And throwing some twins in the mix too.

I mean we are paying for the removal of these 100 deer that's alot of deer meat it should be given to woodhaven residents since we pay for it. Make meat bundles and raffle them off.
It’s disheartening to hear that the deer are being harmed. Creating Woodhaven Lakes for vacation homes has disrupted their natural habitat, and it’s understandable that they’re feeling threatened. It’s important to remember that these animals deserve to live in peace, and their home was there before the development. If the deer are simply eating plants, it’s not their fault, and they need to eat as part of their natural behavior.
Love to watch the deer and their fawns! We be sorry to see them go! Don’t want to see them starve or die from disease but watching them from in my trailer is always one of the highlights of my trips to Woodhaven!
I think its great that they are donating the processed meat to the local food pantry. So many families are in need. If you are in need, perhaps you could go to the food pantry and get you some.
This makes me sad for some reason I’m pro hunting but dang some of the deer are comfortable with humans 😭
Start a management program and let the member/owners take care of the population 🤯 I’m apart of a similar program at a not so far away lake association and it’s going on almost 20 years of existence. Association enacted this to keep IDNR from sharpshooting and keeping the deer for lot owners to harvest legally and fill their Own freezers. If anyone is interested I’d be glad to send a copy of the by-laws and explain how this program is ran. 1000% recommend rather than paying the state to shoot the deer over bait and silenced rifles for fun 😅
If it takes you four days to harvest 100 deer you don’t have that many deer🤷🏼♂️
The forthcoming board elections are expected to be highly successful, owing to the presence of numerous individuals who possess a profound understanding of effective board leadership. Given their extensive expertise in everything possible, it is improbable that we would err by not electing them.
Should allow hunters to bow hunt it, sell permits. Urban hunting is a thing now all over

As an avid deer hunting I will say this. There is no bigger poacher than the idnr
If we’re paying for the processing, I’d say it’s only fair that property owners get dibs on the meat . I hope there is somewhere already picked out that can handle that quantity of deer meat. Unfortunate, but it needs to be done.
So the prions are located in the dirt, how does killing the deer help? How many deer have been found dead from cwd…… NONE. It’s almost like deciding to remove a human because the human contracted salmonella, instead of removing the host of the salmonella. Good job woodhaven ! Glad to see you guys are on top of it

Responsibilities include removal of invasive land plants, assisting in land and aquatic management, overseeing the bait shop, monitoring the quality of the lakes and fisheries.
