PRELIMINARY POOL 2 RENOVATION INFORMATION
The Pool 2 replacement project, which includes the mechanical room, pool vessel, deck, and bathhouse is scheduled for the 2026 – 2027 Fiscal Year, for a currently budgeted amount of $4,853,200.
Pool 2 was originally built in 1975. It was renovated in 1995 by constructing a 2-foot, double-walled cement cap on top of the original pool vessel. Over the last several seasons, we have been dealing with cracks and fissures in the pool vessel walls and inlets, which cause continuous and significant loss of expensive chemically treated and heated water. Several of these faulty inlets and wall cracks were repaired in 2024.
In April 2025, we contracted with Williams Architects out of Itasca, Illinois to help develop a Pre-Design/Conceptual Project Plan with direct input from staff and Woodhaven Facilities Planning Committee members. Through this process, project goals were identified to be:
- Provide an updated pool area with expanded deck and swimming capacity to accommodate the needs of both adults and children
- Repurpose the existing Family Center to integrate the pool bathhouse
To accomplish the above listed project goals, current design ideas and facility components include:
- Wet deck with play features
- Zero depth entry pool
- Leisure pool area with in-water bench seating
- A five-foot depth activity area which offers diving from the deck, a lap swim area, or space for other activities and programs.
- A run-out slide separate from the main pool water.
- Expanded deck space with a mix of shade structures and an open view of the lake.
- New pool mechanical building with new components
- Renovated snack area with storage addition
To date, Frank Parisi from Williams Architects has attended two Facilities Planning Committee meetings to provide preliminary design concepts for both Pool 2 and the bathhouse. Current projected costs range between $7,010,000 and $8,050,000 based on the designs and concepts presented. Your staff, committees, and board will continue to fine-tune the details and included components of this project so we can narrow the projected cost range and present you with a solid cost analysis through the upcoming fall budgeting cycle.
