Our camping season is now in full swing. Our Memorial Day holiday was one for the books. The attendance at the flag raising and dedication ceremony was beyond awesome. Whenever parents can bring their children to a service honoring our fallen military, the passing of our customs and traditions are learned by the next generation and it shows that WE are getting it right. My fellow Veteran Ad Hoc Committee members: I would like to express my gratitude for all the hard work you have put in to make our vision of a true Veterans Memorial area a reality.
Our 4th of July weekend is quickly approaching and I hope to see a great turnout for the 3K walk/5K run. The city of Dixon is hosting their annual Petunia Festival during this week and it’s a fun activity to attend. Many of our local communities are having their fireworks display going on. The places and times for fireworks will be posted on our Woodhaven Facebook page. I would remind our owners to advise their guests that fireworks are NOT allowed at Woodhaven. We have a sign at the front gate and Public Safety will enforce this rule.
I recently lost a dear friend and one of our committee members, Richard Kish, to the effects of Agent Orange that he contracted while serving in Vietnam and I’ve been asked by some Owners to research the possibility of doing a memorial brick drive in order to honor those owners that have passed and served in the military. Once we learn the cost for the bricks and establish the location for placement we’ll have information in our Association media sources for families who wish to participate in this honor drive.
Have a great summer and God Bless America,
Board of Directors President
